Date and Walnut Teabread

This is a very easy tea-bread recipe. a very low sugar and low fat recipe. A Tea-bread is basically a very light cake with dried or fresh fruits and nuts.


Ingredients: 

Butter- 90gms
soft brown sugar- 185 gms
chopped dates - 125 gm
walnuts chopped - 90 gm
boiling water - 250 ml
multigrain flour - 220 gm
mixed spice - 1 teaspoon
ginger powder- 1 teaspoon

Method : 

Preheat oven to 180 degree Celsius or 350 degree Fahrenheit. Grease and line a loaf tine. Combine the butter, sugar, dates and walnuts in a large bowl. Add the boiling water and stir until butter has melted. Sift in the dry ingredients and mix well.
Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin and level the top. Bake for about 45 minutes or until cooked through. Cool on a wore rack and serve warm with tea.
