Methi Malai Mutter

Methi leaves , otherwise known as fenugreek leaves are a very rich source of iron. Even though they are very healthy , they have quite a bitter taste. This can be reason people might not find it tasty. 
This recipe makes fenugreek leaves tasty and makes a nice option for any dinner. 




Ingredients : 
1 bunch fenugreek/methi leaves 
1 cup peas
1 medium onion chopped
1-2 tomatoes chopped 
1 inch ginger chopped 
1 clove garlic chopped
2 green chilies 
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp dhania powder
1 tsp garam masala
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 cup cream 


Method :
Wash the fenugreek leaves, add half a teaspoon of salt,  mix and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Squeeze the leaves till most of the water comes out. Chop it fine and keep aside. 

Heat a pan. Splutter 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds in a tsp of oil. Add the chopped ginger, garlic, onions and tomatoes. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes. Add all the spice powders and salt. Sauté till oil separates. Next add the peas and chopped leaves. Stir fry for about 10 minutes in a low heat. Add the sugar. Finish off by adding the cream. Switch off the heat and garnish with chopped coriander. Serve hot as an accompaniment to rotis or pulao.
