Vegetarian Dumplings

Dumplings are a common street commonly found in South East Asia, China and North Eat parts of India. They are also called Dimsums in many parts.
Dumplings or Dimsums are a very healthy snack as they are generally steamed. Sometimes they are fried too. They are filled with either any kind of meat or are vegeatarian.
I have made a vegetarian dumpling.

Add the maida, salt , oil and enough water and knead into a firm dough. Keep it covered with a damp cloth.

Filling:
1 onion chopped
1 clove garlic chopped
2 cups of finely shredded vegetables like cabbage, carrot, capsicum, mushrooms etc
salt to taste
1/2 tsp dark soy sauce
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp vinegar
1 tsp chili sauce

Method: In a wok add about 2 tbsp of oil. Add chopped garlic, onion and stir fry. Once transluscent add the chopped vegetables and stir fry well. Add the seasonings, and sauces. Let it cool.

Process :
Take a small ball of the dough and roll it into a thin small chappati. Put about a tablespoon of filling. Seal the edges either in the form of small potli, money bags, like you would for s modak. You may even fold it into a semi circle and seal the edges like a samosa. Place the dumplings into an oiled steamer container.. Steam for about 15-20 minutes. Serve hot with any sauce of your choice. I have served it with a spicy chili garlic sauce.
